Sanemi Shinazugawa is a major supporting character of Demon Slayer, a Demon Slayer of the Demon Slayer Corps, and the current Wind Hashira. He is known for being extremely tough, blessed with an intoxicating blood type called Marechi, incredible strength, and a fierce fighter who seeks to protect his family and fellow Demon Slayers from the predations of any demon in his sight. He has been fighting demons from an early age the first one being his mother. He is an extremely skilled and experienced Demon Slayer, having spent multiple years killing demons on his own before becoming a Demon Slayer Corps member. His personality is one who is brash, rude, quick to anger, and quicker to lash out at others, That being said there is a caring side to him as he risks his own life multiple times to protect not only his only surviving family, Genya but other members of the Demon Corps as well. Sanemi’s Wind breath style is one of both great offense and strong defensive capabilities, coupled with his extreme muscle control allows him to survive fatal wounds that would kill those with lesser constitutions. As the Wind Hashira, his style of breathing involves multiple deadly slashes originating both from aerial and terrestrial origins, explosive speed, an inexhaustible flurry of attacks, and unrelenting determination. This style is one based on the twin dynamics of the wind, either a gentle breeze or a destructive hurricane’s gale-force torrents.

Class Monk 6(Way of the Four Elements)

The three things that I wanted to achieve in this build are:

  1. Fierce Fighting Force of the Winds.
  2. Indefatigable Constitution and Resolve
  3. Relentless Melee Pressure.

Background

For Background, I chose Outlander for Sanemi. He gains the Skill Proficiencies of Athletics and Survival, Tool Proficiency of Hand Drum, the Language of Abyssal, and the Background Feature of Wanderer. This represents his time hunting demons on his own before meeting Masachika Kumeno.

Race

For Race, I chose Half-Orc. With this race, he gains +2 to Str, and +1 to Con, Darkvision, Menacing, Relentless Endurance, and Savage Attacks. The key features for this race are being Relentless Endurance and Savage Attacks, since both of these increase his ability to stay in the fight and deal more damage when he scores a critical hit.

Class

Sanemi’s class breakdown is a mixture of two classes, Fighter 1/Monk 5 (Way of the Four Elements ). It is with these classes that he gains access to Unarmored Defense, Unarmed Fighting, and Ki usage, Deflect Missiles, Stunning Strike, as well as Path of the Four Elements abilities that increase his ability to inflict strong wind damage and defensive skills. The Fighter level gives him extra healing in the form of Second Wind while Fighting Style: Dueling gives him the ability to deal extra damage when using a weapon in one hand. The Feat: Aberrant Dragonmark allows this build to manifest his Demon Slayer Mark as well as his Bright Red Nichirin Sword ability. This combination of class and feats is the best attempt to consolidate his abilities and talents at this level.

Fighter 1 is the starting class for Sanemi. This gives him the skills of Insight, Perception, Fighting Style: Dueling and Second Wind, and access to all martial weapons which can include guns in certain campaigns. This is important since Sanemi is known for using any weapon he can get his hands on to defeat his demonic foes.

Monk 1 is where he picks up Unarmored Defense and Martial Arts.

Monk 2 grants him access to Ki and Unarmored Movement. Now he has access to multiple attacks, increased defense, and the ability to increase his movement speed in a round.

Monk 3 is the next step in Sanemi’s progression with Way of the Four Elements and Deflect Missiles. It is with this level he gains Disciple of the Elements, and Elemental Disciplines: Fist of Unbroken Air and Rush of the Gale Spirits. This level gives him the ability to blast a foe with a strong gale that deals strong damage and can push the foe back 20 ft as well as prone. Meanwhile, Rush of the Gale Spirits allows Sanemi to cast Gust of Wind which can push foes away by 15 ft as well as control makes the line difficult terrain.

Monk 4 is where Sanemi is granted his Demon Slayer Mark with the Feat: Aberrant Dragonmark. This feat grants him +1 to Con, the spells Green-Flame Blade and Thunderwave, Now he can use Green-Flame to mimic the Red Nichirin Blade ability while fighting his demonic foes. Lastly, he also gains Slow Fall which allows him to fall at 25 ft and take no damage.

Monk 5 is the final level for Sanemi with access to Extra Attack and Stunning Strike. Now he has the ability to unleash four attacks around while moving around the battlefield all the while blinding his opponents to his movements and strikes.

With full use of Sanemi’s powers he can perform the following techniques via job features and abilities:

Wind Breathing

  • First Form: Dust Whirlwind Cutter- Move + Attack + Extra Attack + Ki Usage: Flurry of Blows
  • Second Form: Claws, Purifying Wind- Thunderwave spell
  • Third Form: Clean Storm Wind Tree-Move + Ki Usage: Patient Defense + Attack or Rush of the Gale Spirits (Gust of Wind)
  • Fourth Form: Rising Dust Storm- Athletics to Jump + Attack + Extra Attack + Flurry of Blows
  • Fifth Form: Cold Mountain Wind
    • Athletics to Jump + Fist of Unbroken Air + Ki Usage: Flurry of Blows or
    • Athletics to Jump + Attack + Extra Attack + Ki Usage: Flurry of Blows
  • Sixth Form: Black Wind Mountain Mist- Fist of Unbroken Air + Ki Usage: Flurry of Blows
  • Seventh Form: Gale, Sudden Gusts- Athletics to Jump + Fist of Unbroken Air or Rush of the Gale Spirits
  • Eighth Form: Primary Gale Slash- Athletics to Jump + Fist of Unbroken Air
  • Ninth Form: Idaten Typhoon- Athletics to Jump + Attack + Extra Attack + Ki Usage: Flurry of Blows or
    • Athletics to Jump + Thunderwave Spell

This combination of feats, stats, and spells makes this DND build of Sanemai an indomitable juggernaut who tosses tempestuous winds to devastate demonic foes like chaff in Six levels or Less.
