“Whether by choice or by fate, the power of the Dragon Gem enables Aelia to transform into a dragon. However, she doesn’t realize that such shape shifting, a form of Necromancy, robs her of her own identity.“
The red haired spear-woman with the ability to turn into a dragon. A principal powerhouse with that kind of power is difficult to pull off in six levels but we are gonna give it a shot.
Str 15 Dex 12 Con 13 Int 12 Wis 8 Cha 13 (27 point buy)
Str 16 Dex 12 Con 14 Int 12 Wis 8 Cha 13 (after racial mod)
Class 3 Fighter (Psi Warrior)/ 3 Sorcerer (Draconic Bloodline)
The three things that I wanted to achieve in this build are:
- Pole-arm mastery.
- Draconic firepower.
- Dread Dragon finisher.
For the race I choose variant human but if you wanted to lean more into the dragon blood you could go for dragonborn and take 6 levels of psi warrior instead. With variant human I chose elvish for the language, ability increase to Con and Str, and perception for the skill. The pinnacle feat that I choose for Aelia is Polearm Master. It gives you a second attack and creatures provoke attacks of opportunity when they get within reach of your polearm.
For Class I choose to go three levels in Fighter to give her the martial side that she needs to be an effective front line warrior. For proficiencies I went with Athletics and Intimidation as she is known to be Confident and Healthy. Fighting style is going to be Great Weapon Fighting to help maintain a high damage output in melee. Fighter level two gives her Second Wind and Action Surge which will become even more useful in the later levels. Level three Fighter gets us to Psi Warrior. This class is great for give her the ability to mimic her Spinning Edge attack with the Psionic Strike option. The Protective field and Telekinetic Movement are great additional powers for her.
Three levels of Sorcerer is the other half of her character make up. This will gives us the ability to become a dragon-like being for when she goes for her finishing strike Dread Dragon. Level one of Sorcerer will be Draconic Bloodline with red dragon being the ancestry we go for. Though if you want you could go brass dragon as well. Draconic Resilience further lends to her being hardy enough to endure anything thrown at her. Level two gives her Font of Magic which starts to open doors magically. At Level three Metamagic I chose Quickened Spell and Twinned Spell. This will help to target multiple foes and produce her higher level spells with less time to cast them. This is important towards the Dread Dragon finisher.
The Dread Dragon Finishing strikes goes like this:
- Quicken metamagic Aganazzar’s Scorcher
- Twinned metamagic Firebolt at the additional targets
- Action Surge and repeat 1 and 2 if they are still alive and if you have the sorcery points.
Background for Aelia is Mercenary Veteran with the skills proficiencies of Persuasion and Investigation. I chose Vehicles (Land) and Three-Dragon Ante Set.
