In Six or Less #59 Cocytus Overlord DND Builds

Cocytus, Ruler of the Frozen Rivers, is the 5th-floor guardian of Nazarick. He is a heteromorphic insect created by Warrior Takemikazuchi to represent the prideful warrior placed in charge of the 5th floor. Cocytus takes pride in being a weapon to be used by Ainz as he enjoys a good battle against fellow warriors, often going out of his way to show respect to fellow fighters whether they be enemies or allies. He is constantly seeking to improve his way of thinking in order to better Nazarick and has since become a guiding figure to the lizardman, teaching them to become effective citizens and soldiers for Nazarick. Cocytus is the shining weapon that seeks to defeat any foe that would dare attempt to stand against the great tomb.

Str 16 Dex 12 Con 16 Int 8 Wis 10 Cha 14 (after racial and feat mod)

Class Warlock 6 (The Fathomless)

The three things that I wanted to achieve in this build are:

1. Mastery of War Weapons.
2. Freezing Power of Hel.
3. Multi-armed Warrior.

Background

For Background, I chose Knight of the Order. He gains the Skills of Persuasion and History, Tool Proficiency of Wargong, the language of Infernal, and the Background Feature of Knightly Regard.

Race

For Race, I chose Thri-kreen. With this race, he gains + 1 to Str, Con, and Cha, size of medium, Chameleon Carapace, Darkvision, Secondary Arms, Sleepless the language of Celestial and Thri-keen Telepathy. The key features are Chameleon Carapace and Secondary Arms since the former gives him natural armor, color changing stealth abilities, and the latter grants him the ability to hold additional weapons in his other hands.

Class

Cocytus’s class breakdown is one class, Warlock 6 (The Fathomless). It is with this class that Cocytus gains access to magical attacks through spells, resistance to cold, the power to lessen damage from attacks, access to summoning multiple weapons, high-damage physical attacks, and cold-based magical attacks. This combination of class and feats is the best attempt to consolidate his abilities and talents at this level.

Warlock 1 is the starting class for Cocytus. This gives him the skills of Arcana and Investigation, Pact Magic, Expanded Spell List: create or destroy water and thunderwave, Tentacle of the Deeps, and Gift of the Sea. The key feature is Tentacle of the Deeps. Tentacles of the Deeps give him access to a spectral attack that unleashes cold damage on a foe as well as slows them down.

Warlock 2 is where he picks up Eldritch Invocations: Fiendish Vigor and Misty Visions. These will eventually be replaced with stronger invocations which are Tomb of Levistus, Improved Pact Weapon, and Thirsting Blade.

Warlock 3 grants him access to the Pact Boon: Pact of the Blade. This gives Cocytus the ability to create weapons that will make him proficient with them, as well as makes them count as magical.

Warlock 4 is the next step in Cocytus’s progression with the feat Weapon Master. With this feat, he gains +1 to Str, as well as proficiency in Greatsword, Glaive, Longsword, and Battleaxe.

Warlock 5 is where he gains to 3^rd level spells and his third Eldritch Invocation.

Warlock 6 is the final level for Cocytus with the features of Oceanic Soul and Guardian Coil. Oceanic Soul grants him resistance to cold damage, while Guardian Coil allows him to lessen damage against himself or another when his Tentacle of the Deeps is active.

With full use of Cocytus’s powers he can perform the following techniques via job features and abilities:

• Cutting Wind– Tentacle of the Deeps
• Frost Breath– Frostbite Spell
• Ice Pillar– Sleet Storm
• Piercing Icicle– Eldritch Blast
• Acala’s Sword– Sword Burst Spell
• Frost Aura– Armor of Agathys/Spirit Shroud spells
• Unnamed Ability– Guardian Coil

This combination of feats, stats, and spells makes this DND build of Cocytus a towering blade of frigid ruination walking the warrior’s path through his foes in Six levels or Less.
