Melasula is a powerful member of the Demon Clan who is also a member of The Ten Commandments. She has the capability to spray a destructive blast of poison, create a cocoon of darkness around her foes, summon various forms of monstrosities with spells and steal the life forces of her enemies with a touch. She gets along well enough with her fellow Commandments but is seen mainly partnered up with Galand. Her knowledge of forbidden spells and dark rituals combined with her manipulation of the dead gives her a killer edge in any battle.

Melascula Stats

Str 9 Dex 14 Con 12 Int 11 Wis 13 Cha 14 (27 point buy)

Str 9 Dex 14 Con 12 Int 12 Wis 13 Cha 16 (after racial and feat mod)

Class Warlock 5 (The Undying)/Cleric 1 (Death Domain)

The three things that I wanted to achieve in this build are:

  1. Mistress of Summoning.
  2. Destructive Poisioning Effects.
  3. Knowledge of the Forbbiden Arts.

Background

For Background, I chose Sage for her. She gains the skills of History, Insight, the languages of Infernal and Celestial, and the Background Feature of Researcher.

Race

For the race, I chose Yuan-ti Pureblood for Melascula since she is a very human-looking woman with snake-like features. With this race, she gains +2 Cha, +1 Int, Darkvision 60′, Innate Spellcasting, Magic Resistance, Poison Immunity, and the languages of Common, Abyssal, and Draconic. The key parts of her build are the spells of Innate Spellcasting, specifically poison spray cantrip and Poison Immunity.

Class

Melascula’s class breakdown is a combination of two classes, Warlock 5 (The Undying)/Cleric 1(Death Domain). It is with these classes that she gains the ability to gather ritual spells from any spellcasting class, strong summoning spells, damaging necrotic and poison spells, and blinding her foes. This combination of classes is the best attempt to consolidate his abilities and talents at this level.

Warlock 1 is starting class for Melascula. This class gives her the skills of Religion, Arcana, Pact Magic, Expanded Spell List, and the Feature: Among the Dead.

Warlock 2 is where she picks up Eldritch Invocations of Armor of Shadows and Agonizing Blast

Warlock 3 is the level that gives Melascula the Pact of the Tome as her Pact Boon. This gives her access to three cantrips from any class.

Warlock 4 gives her the feat of Poisoner and she switches out Agonizing Blast for Book of Ancient Secrets. Poisoner allows her poison damage to ignore resistance to poison as well as poisoning weapons quicker and creating powerful poisons. Meanwhile, the Invocation of Book of Ancient Secrets gives her the spells of Floating Disk and Phantom Steed with access to more ritual spells.

Warlock 5 is the level where she gets a third Invocation with that being Undying Servitude. Now she can cast animate dead without using a spell slot. Now she can summon an enemy’s family member to battle against them.

Cleric 1 is the last level for Melascula’s build. With this level, she gains Spellcasting, Bonus Proficiency of Martial Weapons and Reaper. Reaper is the key feature here since this allows her to cast a necromancy cantrip that targets two creatures within 5 feet of each other. The spell that I chose is Chill Touch.

With full use of Melascula’s powers she can perform the following techniques via spells and abilities:

Hell Gate- Summoning Spells

Vengeful Soul Revival- Summon Shadowspawn or Animate Dead

Cocoon of Darkness-Hungar of Hadar

Soul Invitation-Vampiric Touch

Commandment of Faith- Blindness of the Blindness/Deafness spell

This combination of feats, stats, and spells makes this DND build of Melascula the Faith a manipulative fiend of the dead and dying in Six levels or Less.
