Goblins are rarely known to be members of polite society let along productive members. Kosira is one of those productive members. She has always known that she stands out, yet she realizes that the skills she offers are vital for society to run. She is willing to go into goblin held lands and return with whatever the bounty requires of her. For what she uses the money for few know, yet none can argue with her results.
Kosira Du’Kane
Race: Goblin, +2 Dex, +1 Con, Darkvision, Fury of the small, Nimble escape
Stats (Point Buy)
Str 13 Dex 14 Con 14 Int 8 Wis 12 Cha 12 (base stats)
Str 13 Dex 16 Con 15 Int 8 Wis 12 Cha 12 (racial adjustment)
The three things that I wanted to achieve with this build are:
- Dual wielding fury.
- Capable bounty hunter skills.
- Elusive front-line fighter.
For Race of this build I went Goblin. With goblin you grab some truly interesting abilities. Fury of the Small is fun. With it you can deal extra damage on a creature larger than you, whether that be an attack or spell. Nimble Escape grants Kosira the ability to disengage or hide as a bonus action which adds to her elusiveness in battle.
For Background I chose Outlander. She really is a stranger in a strange land having had to adapt to living on the fringes of society. Coupled with not having a clan around to aid her has left her with a more rugged outlook on life. With this background she gains the Survival and Sleight of Hand skills. Survival for tracking and survival in the wild, while Sleight of Hand for filching items or hiding her own from prying eyes. The lyre proficiency is for relaxing at a camp fire in the wilds. For the language I went with Undercommon.
As for the Class make up of this build I went with Rogue 1/Fighter 4 (Rune Knight). The rogue level representing her initial life as a survivor in a rogue guild before turning to becoming a hardened veteran fighter later in her progression.
Rogue 1 is the starting class for Kosira. It is here that she will learn her four skills of Athletics, Perception, Stealth and Investigation. She will Expertise in Stealth and Athetics. From the rest of rogue she gets Sneak Attack and Thieves’ Cant.
Fighter 1 to 5 will be the remainder of the classes that make up her build. Fighter 1 grants Kosira her signature Fighting Style of Two-Weapon Fighting and Second Wind. Fighter 2 is another increment of power with Second Wind and Action Surge, representing her toughness and quickness in battle.
Fighter 3 is where she begins to grow in more ways than one. Rune Knight grants her Rune Carver and Giant’s Might. Rune Carver grants her specific giant magical powers so here I gave her Cloud and Stone Rune. Cloud grants advantage on Dex(Sleight of Hands) checks and Cha (Deception) checks. The magic ability for this rune give her the ability to take a possible hit on her or any creature and transfer it to another creature within 30 feet of her.
Stone grants advantage on Wisdom (Insight) checks and increases her darkvision to 120 feet. The magical ability allows her to charm a creature into an incapacitated stupor once per short or long rest. Giant’s Might grants her the ability to become large in size, advantage on Str checks and saving throws, and the ability to deal an extra 1d6 once per turn. The extra bonus of smith’s tools and Giant language are great toppers for this powerful level.
Fighter 4 grants a feat that is much needed to finish her dual wielding journey with Dual Wielder. Now she can upgrade her weapons from her short swords to a case of rapiers, increasing her damage output further.
Fighter 5 capstones her build with Extra attack. With Extra attack, bonus action into a giant, and using her rune abilities while dual wielding makes for a dangerous foe indeed.
Spells
None save her Giant Rune abilities
Equipment
Standard Rogue Equipment. Though once she gains dual wielder two rapiers and medium armor should be the next upgrades in equipment for her.
