Ryuu Lion, known as Gale, was the former fugitive known as Gale Wind and the lone survivor of the Astraea Familia. After her familia was decimated by the secondary effects of a trap set by the Rudra familia, Ryuu used every tool and skill in her arsenal to punish any and all who held ties to the familia or Evilus eventually getting the God banished from Orario. She lay on death’s door until she was saved by a passing Syr, allowing her to recover and work for Mia Grand as a Hostess of Fertility. Having survived multiple trials and tribulations alongside Bell Cranel she has grown close to him to the point of developing romantic feelings for him. She is known for her incredible talent in magic, fierce fighting skills, immense speed along the battlefield, and her fairy-like beauty. This build of Ryuu is right before her final battle with the Juggernaut on the deep levels of the dungeon.
Ryuu Lion Stats

Class Warlock 5 (The Hexblade)/ Monk
The three things that I wanted to achieve in this build are:
- Fierce Fighter, Fleet Footed.
- Personality Powered Strikes.
- Healing and Harming Implements.
Background
For Background, I chose Haunted One for Ryuu. She gains the Skills of Arcana, Survival, Languages of Undercommon and Sylvan, and the Background Feature of Heart of Darkness. This represents her time as the fugitive Gale Wind.
Race
For Race, I chose Astral Elf. With this race, she gains + 1 to Dex, Wis, and Cha, Size: Medium, Astral Fire: Cha with the spell Sacred Flame, Darkvision, Fey Ancestry, Keen Senses, Starlight Step and Ancestral Trance with the skill of Acrobatics and Poisoner’s Kit. The key features are Starlight Step and Ancestral Trance since the former gives her increased mobility while the latter allows her to access all of the teachings and techniques she received from her fallen familia members.
Class
Ryuu’s class breakdown is a combination of two classes, Warlock 5 (The Hexblade)/Monk 1. It is with these classes that Ryuu Lion gains access to enhanced defenses, charisma-empowered offense, strong unarmed fighting ability, powerful spellcasting combined with incredible damage output with any blade in her hand, and multiple options for deftly dodging enemy attacks across a chaotic battlefield. This combination of classes and feats is the best attempt to consolidate her abilities and talents at this level.
Warlock 1 is the starting class for Ryuu Lion. With this level she gains the skills of Deception and Investigation, Otherworldly Patron: The Hexblade, Pact Magic, Expanded Spell List, Hexblade’s Curse, and Hex Warrior. With these features, she can use her Cha instead of her Str or Dex stat to attack and damage a foe with a chosen weapon in hand, gain an edge against a chosen foe once during a long rest, and use strong spells to aid her in combat.
Warlock 2 is where Ryuu gains access to Eldritch Invocations. The initial Eldritch Invocations will be Eldritch Mind and Agonizing Blast. Eventually, you will change out Agonizing Blast for Improved Pact Weapon.
Warlock 3 gifts her with Pact Boon: Pact of the Blade as well as switching out an Eldritch Invocation. This will allow her to create any melee weapon she can, gain proficiency in its use, and use the weapon as her spell focus. The cherry on top is the added effect of the weapon counting as magic to overcome certain resistances. With the new Invocation, the weapon becomes +1 for attack and damage and can create ranged weapons.
Warlock 4 grants her the Feat: Gift of the Metallic Dragon: Cha. It is with this feat that she gains Draconic Healing and Protective Wings. Draconic Healing gives her the Cure Wounds spell while Protective Wings allows her to increase her or a nearby ally’s AC as a reaction.
Warlock 5 turns up the damage potential for Ryuu with the third Eldritch Invocation: Thirsting Blade and access to 3rd-level spells. Now she can attack multiple times as well as cast harder-hitting spells.
Monk 1 is the final level for Ryuu with the features of Unarmored Defense and Martial Arts. This enhances her AC without having to have armor as well as her unarmed damage potential.
With full use of Ryuu’s powers, she can perform the following techniques via class features and abilities:
- Tachi Techniques– Martial Arts and Unarmored Defense feature
- Concurrent Chanting– Eldritch Mind Invocation
- Luminous Wind– Shatter or Spirit Shroud + Eldritch Blast for Area effect at 10 feet range
- Cloud of Daggers for ranges 15 to 60 feet
- Luvia– Branding Smite, Booming Blade, Sacred Flame, or Eldritch Blast for Luvia
- Noah Heal– Gift of the Metallic Dragon: Draconic Healing
- Mind Load– Hex Warrior
- Hunter- Hexblade’s Curse
- Magic Resistance– Fey Ancestry
- Mage– Spellcasting + Eldritch Mind features
- Chain Attack– Thirsting Blade Feature + Branding Smite Spell + Hexblade’s Curse Feature
This combination of feats, stats, and spells makes this DND build of Ryuu Lion a destructive tempest of avenging fury delivering her own brand of justice and punishment upon any foe who would inflict pain or worse on her allies in Six levels or Less.
