Avaria was a swaddling Shadar-kai left on the wagon steps of a Vistani wagon. She was adopted by them and grew amongst their traveling kin gaining skills as a bard sword swallower before her latent shadow magic manifested. When one of her sisters was assaulted in the village they had recently settled nearby, Avaria could not let such an offense go unpunished. She took it upon herself to inflict grievous wounds upon the wicked laborer and his friends who attempted to help him. After leaving her mark on their bodies she snuck back into her group but was quickly taken and brought before Madam Eva. Though what she had done was in response to harm to one of their own she was sloppy about how she dished out her punishment. Seeing potential in Avaria, Madam Eva enlisted one of the bards to train her in not being so obvious, molding her skills and talents into an agent of the Shadowed Blade. Now she acts on missions from her handler, advancing the missions of her leader, and growing the knowledge of the Vistani with occasional adventuring work. Should she be sent to ‘settle’ scores she does so with the talents only a Shadowed Blade can provide.

Race: Shadar-kai +2 Dex, +1 Cha, Darkvision, Fey Ancestry, Keen Senses, Necrotic Resistance, Trance
Stats (27- point buy)
Str 11 Dex 14 Con 12 Int 10 Wis 10 Cha 15 (base stats)
Str 11 Dex 16 Con 12 Int 10 Wis 10 Cha 16 (racial and feat adjustment)
The three things that I wanted to achieve with this build are:
- Strong Front line Fighter Potential.
- Infiltration Extraordinaire.
- Darkness Enveloped Death Dealer.
Race
For the Race of this build, I went with Shadar-kai. With this race, she gains +2 to Dex and +1 to Cha, Darkvision, Fey Ancestry, Blessing of the Raven Queen, Keen Senses, Necrotic Resistance and Trance. The key traits for this build are Blessing of the Raven Queen and Trance.
Background
For Background I chose Spy. This gives her the skills of Deception, Stealth, Thieves’ Tools Playing Card Set, and the Background Feature of Criminal Contact.
Class
For the Class makeup of this build, I went with a mix of Bard 4 (College of Swords)/Sorcerer 2 (Shadow Magic). With this combination of classes, she gains a plethora of skills, high defensive capabilities, spells to aid in infiltration missions, and moderate utility to aid any party. With these skills and abilities, Avaria is the shadowed vengeance of her Vistani family.
Bard 1 is the beginning of this build with the skills of Lyre, Flute, Hand Drum, Acrobatics, Insight, Survival, Spellcasting, and Bardic Inspiration.
Bard 2 is where Avaria picks up the feature of Jack of All Trades and Song of Rest.
Bard 3 grants her access to her 2nd Level spells the Bard College of Swords, Expertise in Perception and Acrobatics, Bonus Proficiencies in both armor and scimitar use, Fighting Style: Dueling and Blade Flourish. Blade Flourish allows her to increase her defense, attack an additional foe or push foes around the battlefield.
Bard 4 is where she picks up the feat Defensive Duelist. Defensive Duelist allows her to add her proficiency bonus to her AC with a reaction.
Sorcerer 1 is the next phase of her life. It is here where she gains Spellcasting, Sorcerous Origin Shadow Magic, Eyes of the Dark, and Strength of the Grave. Now she has the ability to see with a darkvision of 120 feet, and a way for her to stay alive if she drops to 0 hit points.
Sorcerer 2 is the final level for this build with access to Font of Magic. This gives her the ability to give herself access to more spells by converting spell slots or using her Sorcery Points.
