Natrissa is the daughter of a fisherman’s daughter and a boatswain of a privateer ship. She has grown up on the seas and has felt more alive during a cannonade at sea than anywhere else in the world. It was no surprise that when her father stepped down that she would take up his position. After many years of learning her craft and training in the eclectic martial art of the rapier from Captain Scalion, she eventually decided to try out the life of an adventure on the mainland. “Rolling Wave” Natrissa has since become one with her blade and navigates any battlefield with the fury of a rogue wave.

The three things that I wanted to achieve with this build are:

  1. Supierior Swashbuckling.
  2. Defensive Dueling Supremacy.
  3. Fury of Avernus.

Race

For the Race of this build, I went with a Zariel Tiefling. This race gives her Darkvision, Hellish Resistance, and Legacy of Avernus. Legacy of Avernus gives her the spells of Thaumaturgy, Searing Smite, and Branding Smite

Background

For Background I chose Pirate. This gives her the skills of Perception, Stealth, the Tool Proficiencies of Navigator’s Tools and Vehicles (Water), and the Background Feature of Bad Reputation

Class

For the Class makeup of this build, I went with six levels of Monk (Way of the Kensei). With this subclass, she gains the ability to use her Ki to make devastating weapon attacks, a higher AC, and the battlefield maneuverability that comes from being a monk. This build is capable of leveling heavy damage on her foes while being highly mobile.

Monk 1 is the beginning of this build with the skills of Insight, Athletics and Carpenter’s Tools, Unarmored Defense, and Martial Arts

Monk 2 is where Natrissa picks up the use of Ki and the Unarmored Movement. Now she can increase her attacks, decrease her amount of getting hit, and her movement options.

Monk 3 is where she begins to master the weapons of the Rapier, Dart, and gains skills in the use of Calligrapher’s Supplies. She also gains the ability to Deflect Missles.

Monk 4 is where she gains the feat Defensive Duelist and Slow Fall. Defensive Duelist is the feat that lets her use her reaction to add her proficiency bonus to her AC for that attack.

Monk 5 is the level that has Persefoni gaining Extra Attack and Stunning Strike.

Monk 6 is the final level for her build with multiple features for this level. She gains Ki-Empowered Strikes, Unarmored Movement, One with the Blade, and Kensei Weapons. One with the Blade allows her weapons to be treated as magic while allowing her to use Ki to inflict extra damage. The Kensei Weapon for this level is the Whip.
