Persefoni Thana was the daughter of the town’s mortician in a small shanty town in the shadow of the Keep of the land. As her father was the only coffin maker in the area, he had all kinds of business, some of which were of a criminal nature. This early influence in her life led her down the path of criminal life. She was scouted by the local thieves ‘ guild due to being able to survive a few scraps when some of their members tried to rob her. She was trained by the guild’s martial trainer Salo the dwarf to be an enforcer and underground fighter. With Salo’s guidance, she became known as “Deathblow” due to her martial art style and her willingness to end those who stand in her way. Now she is a free agent, working with local adventuring groups to pay back the debt that she owes Salo.

The three things that I wanted to achieve with this build are:

  1. Lethal Enforcer Skills.
  2. Wielder of the Death Arts.
  3. Sentinel Fearmonger.

Race

For the Race of this build, I went with Baalzebul Tiefling. This race gives her Darkvision, Hellish Resistance, and Legacy of Maladomini. Legacy of Maladomini gives her the spells of Thaumaturgy, ray of sickness, and crown of madness.

Background

For Background I chose Criminal. This gives her the skills of Deception, Stealth, Thieves Tools, Playing Card Set, and the Background Feature of Criminal Contact.

Class

For the Class makeup of this build I went with six levels of Monk (Way of the Long Death). With this subclass, she gains the ability to gain temp hit points when she drops a foe, unlimited uses of a fear ability, the feat sentinel that keeps your enemies close, and classic monk abilities. This build is capable of picking apart groups of enemies while keeping herself alive in fiercer fights.

Monk 1 is the beginning of this build with the skills of Insight, Athletics and Woodcarver’s Tools, Unarmored Defense, and Martial Arts

Monk 2 is where Persefoni picks up the use of Ki and Unarmored Movement. Now she can increase her attacks, decrease her amount of getting hit, and her movement options.

Monk 3 is where she becomes pervier of death. She gains the features of Deflect Missiles, and Touch of Death. Touch of death gives her a temp hp shield when she drops a foe.

Monk 4 gives her the feat Sentinel and Slow Fall. Sentinel is the feat that prevents her foes from fleeing, thus increasing her ability to hit her foes more.

Monk 5 is the level that has Persefoni gaining Extra Attack and Stunning Strike.

Monk 6 is the final level for her build with Ki-Empowered Strikes, Unarmored Movement, and Hour of Reaping. Hour of Reaping gives her unlimited chances to inflict the frightened condition on her foes.

With this combination of skills, feat, racial traits, and class features she is able to break up groups of enemies, pick apart enemies with advantage if they fail their saves, extend her survival with temp hp, and useful spells from her racial abilities.
