Merlin is known as the Boar’s Sin of Gluttony, the greatest mage in Britannia. She has been around for over 3000 years as her origins are from an ancient civilization that no longer exists. Born with an amazingly powerful skill called Infinite, she was sought out by both the demon clans and the goddess clans as a potential ally. She managed to manipulate both into granting her untold powers but at a cost. She has a close bond to Gowther, Meliodas, Elizabeth and Escanor. Of all the sins she is a destructive force of knowledge that knows no end or equal.

Merlin Stats

Class Wizard (School of Abjuration) 6

The three things that I wanted to achieve in this build are:

  1. Perfect Cube and Infinity.
  2. Arcane Spell Mastery.
  3. Gluttonous need for Knowledge.

Race

For the race I chose Kalashtar for Merlin but Variant Human would also work well. With Kalashtar she gains Dual Mind, Mental Discipline, Mind Link, and Severed from Dreams. This slew of abilities grants her advantage on all Wis saving throws, resistance to psychic damage, telepathic speech, immunity to spells and magical effects that cause her to dream or go to sleep, and the language Celestial, and +2 to Wis, and +1 to Cha.

Background

For Background I chose Sage for Merlin. With Sage she gains Persuasion, Investigation, the languages of Infernal and Draconic, and the Researcher Feature. This satisfies her hunger for knowledge by allowing her to either recall a piece of lore or to know where to obtain it.

Class

Merlin’s class breakdown is Wizard 6 (School of Abjuration). With this class Merlin gains access to as many magical spells as she has money or time to gather, the ability to create a hit point shield that protects from damage and then the ability to lend it to others as well. This class, combined with her racial abilities and background lend to a versatile and devastating character build.

Wizard 1 is the first part of Merlin’s build. She gains the skills of Arcana and History, Spellcasting and Arcane Recovery.

Wizard 2 is where she gains access to her Perfect Cube ability in the guise of Arcane Ward. Arcane ward allows Merlin to shield herself in a hit point wart maximum equal to twice her wizard level + Int modifier and can be refreshed when she cast an abjuration spell of higher than cantrip. She also gains Abjuration Savant that makes it cheaper to copy abjuration spells.

Wizard 3 gives her access to 2nd level spells

Wizard 4 is where she picks up the feat Metamagic Adept. It is here where she will take Empowered Spell and Extended Spell. These two Metamagics imitate her innate skill of Infinity and Amplify Spell. Now she can enhance the length of any spell she cast to last up to 24 hours if she wishes. Empowered Spell allows her to ramp up her the potency of her spells in a similar fashion to her Amplify Spell ability.

Wizard 5 gives her access to 3rd level spells.

Wizard 6 is the final class for Merlin’s build. It is this level where she gets the ability to grant Perfect Cube to others in the form of Projected Ward. Now she can use her Arcane ward on allies within 30 feet of her as a reaction.

This combination of feats, stats and spells gives this DND build of Merlin, Boar’s Sin of Greed the ability to know all and devastate many in Six levels or Less.
